AUG 18: Madonna Takes Early Lead

It's no surprise that Madonna got a lot of play in this week's edition of OK Magazine (#33, Aug. 18), but it is surprising that it had nothing to do with A-Rod. A 2-page, 25-year retrospective spread (every pun intended) looking at the Material Woman's various stages of material girl-ness netted the once and future queen of controversy a whopping 27 points. The occasion? Her 50th birthday. Cangrats, Madonna. In honor of this momentous occasion, we are proud to give you prime billing for the world premiere week of Celebulous. Enjoy your new-found fame. It's the least we could do.

Jennifer Aniston's OK cover shot and pre-wedding pictorial added up to a solid 18 points, making her 1 of only 5 celebs to hit double digits in this week's OK. Interesting that her husband-to-be John Mayer, who presumably has an equal interest in the aforementioned wedding, only scored 5 points in the same edition of the same magazine.

Mariah Carey and "soulmate" Nick Cannon were the other big winners in this week's OK, taking home 25 and 24 points respectively for their honeymoon spread (again, pun intended -- I can see that's going to come up a lot here). It didn't hurt either of them that they seemed to spend the entire vacation bare-naveled (extra points for showing skin!).

Kate Hudson's bit o' dating-drama broke her into OK's double digit scoring column this week too, with 12 points.

As for this week's Us Weekly, the tallies are still coming in, but the early signs point to a Christina Applegate landslide -- one we all wish would never have occurred. Cancer consolation prize: a major spread in a celebrity magazine!!! 26 points!!!! Yay!!! [Clearly my tongue is lodged squarely in my cheek here. Honestly, it sucks, and cancer is no joke. (Though some good-hearted joking about it never hurts.) We wish Christina all the best for a fast and thorough medical victory, and we hope to see her on many covers for entirely superficial reasons again very, very soon.]

Full OK tallies, Us tallies, and total tallies for the week will be up soon...
